Committee has consulted with Image Committee/Communities in Bloom who are in agreement with need for a garden at this location as it has been identified as a weak area in the 2003 CIB audit and it will compliment their 2004 priority work in the Gulch. Committee investigating options, costs, required labour etc at this time. It is the intention of the committee to finish this project in 2004. With a more detailed assessment of what is needed to develop this garden it is hoped that the Board of Directors will be able to financially support this project.

Erickson Trust Sub Committee
Objective 2003/04: Establish a sub committee that will liaise with community to identify projects for funding. Sub committee will develop terms of reference and implement promotion activities.

Current Actions: The Advisory Committee on Donations and the Rotary Erickson Fund trustees met this month to iron out a few implementation issues that have arisen. As per a request from the board at its January meeting to clarify the funding criteria of the Fund, Forrest Drinnan and Betty Anne Marino reviewed the existing information on the Rotary Erickson Fund; Mr. Erickson's will, Joe Kobluk's 1992 letter, motion and recommendations to the club in 1992, Chris McEwan Feb '03 letter. Through this information and through discussion of the current issues affecting the effectiveness of the Rotary Erickson Fund, new terms of reference have been developed. These Terms of Reference have been reviewed by the Trustees and the Advisory committee. There now seems to be a greater understanding, by the various individuals involved, of the parameters of the Rotary Erickson Fund. An important consideration that the Board needs to concern itself with is the need for continuity in the delivery of the Rotary Erickson Fund mandate. By this it is meant that, at the least, each new President should be made fully aware of the roles and responsibilities of the Rotary Erickson Fund and it's relationship to the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club. To support this, it is recommended that a Presidents file be made up, containing the key information of the Rotary Erickson fund ie Fund Trustees, current chair, annual financial report, terms of reference of Fund, terms of reference for Advisory committee on donations. This Presidents File should be provided and reviewed with the incoming president by the Chair of the Rotary Erickson Fund within the first month of the new presidents term.
