| The RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) Chair has a number of responsibilities: 1) review and update Club documentation, 2) advertising RYLA in the community, 3) identifying a suitable candidate for the RYLA summer camp program, 4) acting as a liaison between the successful candidate and the District 5080 RYLA program director, and 5) inviting the candidate to attend a Rotary Club of Trail lunch meeting upon completion of the program. | ||
| 1. Review and update Club RYLA Documentation | ||
| The Rotary Club of Trail WebSite contains RYLA information. Browse this information, and recommend updates be made through the Club WebSite manager. It is recommended that these activities are completed by December. You should also determine who the District 5080 RYLA program director is, introduce yourself, and ask that information be forwarded directly to you (c.c. Vocational Services Director and/or Club President) when that information becomes available. | ||
| 2. Advertise RYLA Program | ||
| All forms of advertising are encouraged: e-mail send to all Club members, verbal address to the Club, direct contact with J.L. Crowe Student Counselor, local newspaper and/or local radio. The camp usually takes place during the second week of July. Application forms are usually due by mid-May. J.L. | 3. Identify Candidate | ||
| The Rotary Club of Trail has a history of providing funding for one candidate per year to attend the RYLA camp. If there are multiple applicants, application packages should be reviewed and interviews held if necessary to identify the most suitable candidate. | ||
| 4. Liase between Candidate and District 5080 RYLA Program Director | ||
| A copy of the successful candidate's complete appliation form should be forwarded to the District 5080 RYLA program director | ||
| 5. Invite Candidate to Rotary Club of Trail Lunch Meeting | ||
| Contact the candidate immediately after the program ends and invite them to attend a Club lunch meeting. During the meeting, introduce the candidate, and if he/she is keen to speak to the Club regarding their experience, encourage this. | ||
